Rozendal

Brian Rozendal began his musical exploration on the violin at age six. Throughout his youth he played various instruments including the flute, trumpet, trombone, bass guitar, and drums. In junior high school, Brian was part of the rap group KVC, initially as a dancer and later as a lyricist. It was under the stage name, “Mr. Fuse,” that Brian made his first public musical appearance. He later played lead guitar for the alternative rock band Childsize, as well as being actively involved in his church’s music programs.
Shortly after moving to Portland in 2003, Brian met multi-instrumentalist Josh Millard, and the two were members of several Portland bands before collaborating on Brian’s solo music. With the addition of cellist Aubrey Webber and drummer Terry Drysdale, Brian’s music took a more definitive shape, and the quartet played a series of local shows before releasing 2009’s Lean on Split Dart Records.
Brian’s music has been described as emotive, dynamic, and cathartic. The strong melodies and bare instrumentation match the emotions underlying the songs, and his voice conveys these emotions with honesty. Brian believes the best representation of his art is his live performances and can be contacted for shows at brian.rozendal@gmail.com.
